Attractions Locally
Letterfrack is thriving little village, only minutes from
mountains and sea - boasting beautiful white sand beaches
lapped by cool turquoise waters, all within easy reach.
Renowned for Irish music and culture, you can enjoy
traditional music sessions in the local pubs. Whet your
taste buds with a superb culinary experience in two of the
village's three pubs which serve seafood and high quality
cuisine or check out the award winning thatch restaurant,
'Pangur Ban', in the village.
Letterfrack Furniture College is an internationally
renowned furniture design college. An exhibition of
furniture is open to the public every summer and is well
worth a visit.
With more than 350 lakes Connemara is a must for fishing
and walking enthusiasts. The entrance to Connemara National
Park is in Letterfrack village leading to over 2,000
hectares of rugged mountain walks, lakes and bogs brimming
with wildlife, birds and rare plant life. There is a
tea-room in the National Park which is open from Easter to
October.
Visit the nearby neo-gothic mansion of Kylemore Abbey
with its beautiful walled gardens, craft and coffee
shop.
